This one-of-a-kind necklace features a gorgeous Septarian Nodule fossil stone surrounded by sterling silver. Septarian fossils formed between 50 to 70 million years ago as a result of volcanic eruptions. Dead sea life was chemically attracted to the sediment around them which formed mud balls. As the ocean receded, the balls dried and cracked, which created the spectacular patterns inside. The stone in this piece has a soft black and mocha brown hue, along with a wonderful natural pattern of streaks that resemble sun bursts.
MEASUREMENTS: Pendant measures 3” in length and 1-3/4" at widest point. I created the shape of the pendant to flow with the shape of the stone; sawed it out of solid sterling silver sheet; then textured the metal with abstract lines to "echo" the markings in the stone. The stone is securely fastened to the silver with abstract “twists” of sterling silver wire. It is signed on the back with my initials and sterling stamp.
► CHAIN OPTIONS: Pendant may be purchased WITH OR WITHOUT the chain. If you select "With Sterling Chain" option, it will come on the chain shown in the photos - a 16" oxidized solid sterling silver rope chain with lobster claw closure.
